As an “old” immigrant who has lived in Canada for 20 years, I am engaged in helping more and more new immigrants settle down, file taxes, invest, and manage finances. Seeing families settle down and pass on wealth in Canada, I am happy for them from the bottom of my heart and proud of my work. However, I also feel the anxiety and distress of Chinese immigrants around me: some couples live separately, one in Canada to accompany the children, and the other overseas to run around for the livelihood of the whole family. Both sides feel that Alexander; some new immigrant families face a new environment, language barriers, and limited activities for Chinese new immigrants, and feel that it is difficult to integrate; some families, like my family, are first-generation old immigrants, and the children are born and raised here. The first-generation immigrants still carry many traditional ideas from China. The generation gap between the children who go to school here and their parents becomes more and more obvious when they grow up… In short, the material life of Chinese families is getting better and better, but spiritual life needs to be paid more attention. Moreover, spiritual enrichment can sometimes transcend material things, making individuals and families healthier, stronger, and richer.
This is exactly the original intention of Ignite Spirit: to become a platform that connects people, society, and wealth. By organizing a variety of activities, such as traditional Chinese culture (calligraphy, painting, Peking Opera, etc.), Canadian life skills (English, entertainment, sports, etc.), and interactive learning jointly planned by participants, we promote communication and support among community members. Children of the second generation of immigrants are especially welcome to show their talents on this platform to achieve cultural inheritance and innovation.
Mission and Vision: This platform is created to encourage parents and children to participate together, and to design and organize activities through brainstorming. These activities can inspire everyone to think about more life experiences or to explore these topics in depth, and inspire everyone to explore the love of life and the meaning of life.
Cooperation and resource sharing: Cooperate with existing Chinese community organizations and mental health institutions to share resources and expand influence.
Diversified activities: Plan colorful activities based on the interests and needs of community members to promote the participation of members of different ages and backgrounds.
Psychological support: Provide mental health lectures and support groups to help community members cope with psychological challenges in the immigration process.
Volunteer work opportunities: Provide children with high-quality volunteer work opportunities, give full play to their independence and special talents, and win corresponding volunteer hours.
Through these efforts, Ignite Spirit is expected to become an important pillar of the spiritual life of the Chinese community and promote the health and happiness of individuals and families.
