The Dragon Calligraphy Program by Ignite Spirit is a cultural and educational initiative dedicated to preserving and sharing the beauty of traditional Chinese calligraphy within our diverse community. Through guided instruction, artistic exploration, and cultural exchange, the program creates a welcoming space where participants of all ages and backgrounds can connect through art, history, and self-expression.

Philosophy & The Four Treasures
Participants will explore the foundations of Chinese calligraphy, including the origin and evolution of Chinese characters, the characteristics of different script styles, and the artistic principles behind brushwork, structure, balance, and composition. Students will also gain hands-on experience with the traditional “Four Treasures of the Study” (文房四宝) — brush, ink, paper, and inkstone — while learning proper techniques, material selection, and artistic practices.
Beyond technical skills, the Dragon Calligraphy Program encourages patience, focus, creativity, and cultural understanding. The program provides an inclusive environment where community members can learn together, share experiences, and celebrate the richness of Chinese heritage.
