Shelly Wu, founder of Ignite Spirit Global Culture Association, immigrated to Canada in 2003 and has dedicated her career to supporting families and new immigrants. After years of serving the community as a Certified Financial Planner and founder of Reach Wealth Solutions, she saw how immigrant families often struggle with cultural adjustment, children’s education, and intergenerational gaps.
In 2025, Shelly created Ignite Spirit Global to help people discover their inner spark, inspire communities, and connect people of different generations and cultures. Through youth volunteer programs, cultural activities, and community engagement, she is committed to empowering youth, supporting new immigrants with confidence, and building a vibrant, inclusive community.
Mr. Long, an IT engineer who immigrated to Canada in 1999, has been successful in his career and still insists on studying Chinese calligraphy and painting. He has won many awards and taught skills in Chinese communities. Through the charity organization Ignite Spirit Global Culture Association, Mr. Long hopes to bring the spiritual realm of “pen and heart unity” to overseas Chinese with his experience and artistic pursuit.
Lucy Zhao has nearly 20 years of experience in education and training and corporate management consulting. She is proficient in language, leadership, talent development, cross-cultural communication and other training areas. She has worked for Berlitz and iMandarin, providing training and management services to Fortune 500 executives and expatriates. After moving to Oakville in 2024, Lucy Zhao joined the Ignite Spirit Global Culture Association charity organization, hoping to contribute her educational experience and help build the community.
Joyce Li is a civil engineer with ten years of work experience. Over the years, she have been involved in various projects, gaining expertise in structural design, construction management, and project planning. She is passionate about creating safe and efficient infrastructure and always strive to deliver high-quality work.
Outside of her job, Joyce Li regularly volunteer at her local church. She help with monthly cleaning, sing in the choir during Sunday Mass, and often take part in the service by reading scripture. These activities are meaningful to her — they give her a sense of connection and balance, and have taught her a lot about teamwork and dedication.
Joyce Li believes in growing through both work and service, and she look forward to continuing to learn, contribute, and connect with others along the way.
Qian Li. Virology and molecular biology, more than 10 years of virus laboratory research, 3 years of AIDS prevention education for new immigrant women in the Asian community. Passionate about learning, practicing and sharing health (nutrition and exercise), recently served as a charity running coach for beginners in the Mississauga Chinese Running Group, and last year taught more than 30 new runners from zero to five kilometers, fully mastering heart rate control without pain.
Lily Qin has many years of experience as a paralegal in private law firms and local municipal government legal departments. She is very familiar and understanding of legal procedures, case management, processes and regulations. Additional, She has more than fifteen years of teaching language experience working in York Region District School Board. Lily Qin believes that “What you wish to ignite in others must first burn within yourself. We ignite hope for those who need it and make ambassadors of those who have it.”
