Light up life, light up you and me – this is the concept that Ignite Spirit has always followed and advocated. This year’s Father’s Day, a unique “Fishing WORKSHOP” is the first theme event held by Ignite Spirite Spirit with teenagers as the protagonists. These three boys from Oakville, about 13 or 14 years old, look ordinary, don’t talk much, and are a little shy, but they are “skilled” – not only are they fishing experts and water environment ecological insights, but this time they have also become superb “speakers”. The professional lectures of the three young experts systematically covered the basic knowledge of fishing, such as the types and distribution of fish; the selection of fishing tools, the characteristics of various hooks; the equipment and certification requirements for anglers, etc. What interested the participants most was their on-site practical demonstrations. Although it was indoors, the well-prepared “young experts” seemed to take everyone to the waterside, put on fishing rods and bait, and prepare to cast!
Ms. Shelly, the founder of Ignite Spirit and the organizer of the event, praised the performance of the three speakers. She said, “I really didn’t expect them to perform so well. At the beginning of the rehearsal, because it was their first time in front of the audience and they had no experience, some children just read from the PPT, which was very stiff, unconvincing and unconfident. After the wise guidance of the adults, they were told to interact with everyone and talk about what they like and are good at, and to share their own experiences, just like chatting, and not to read from the script. The children’s comprehension is so strong, they immediately brightened up!”
The audience at the scene also gave a lot of thumbs up to the children’s performance!
We always think that children’s growth needs to be “shaped” by us adults. We spend money and time on various extracurricular tutoring and extracurricular sports classes, and get angry when children don’t cooperate, all in the hope that children can “shine” somewhere. But in fact, children have already brought their own light, but this light is sometimes dim, sometimes hidden, or ignored by us or even suppressed because we think it is unlearned!
Facts have proved that whether children can continue to shine, how far they go, how long they walk, and how bright they shine, all come from their internal drive. Ignite Spirit is to help them dig out the light that belongs to them.
