How Ignite Wellness Helps Oakville Residents Build Healthier Lifestyles

When Jun Wu first joined a community workshop, he never expected to develop a jogging habit.

Jun is a 40-year-old participant who joined an outdoor running workshop through Ignite Spirit’s Ignite Wellness Program.

He joined the program because he felt “unhealthy staying at home,” and he wanted to “get sunshine.” He started participate in Ignite Wellness Program in October 2025, and he already completed more than 10 jogging sessions.

“Getting up every early morning was the biggest challenge,” said Jun, “to be honest, I usually got up at 9 a.m. before. In order to get to the event on time, I had to wake up 2 hours earlier than my regular routine. At first, it is not easy to change my bad habit.” After attending morning jogging sessions for a week, Jun noticed changes in his daily routine, “my body began to feel lighter and energetic. Getting up early became an enjoyable thing. A good routine really gave me better mental health condition and improved my life style. Small changes can make a difference.”

The Ignite Wellness Program provides morning running workshops and healthy lifestyle activities for community members. It is an initiative that aims to help individuals learn healthy living strategies and build resilience and confidence through morning running workshops. Over 10 participants have joined the workshops and learned healthy lifestyle strategies. The association board chair, Shelly Wu, tells ISG News that Ignite Wellness Program will accept 2026 autumn registration in September.

For Jun, the workshop was not only an opportunity to exercise in the morning, but also a chance to build a healthier daily routine.
